Barrette Needle File Cut #4 Nicholson USA, lot 222

Description

Nicholson barrette style needle file #4 cut, 6-1/4″ OAL, USA made.   Barrette files have teeth on the flat side while the tops are safe (no teeth).  Used condition but clean, sharp, with plenty of life left.

Swiss style needle files and riffler files use a system of 00, 0, 2, 4, & 6 for the coarsness of the teeth with 00 bing the coarsest and 6 the finest.

Any file will work with steel, aluminum, wood, etc., though the finer toothed ones will tend to load up the teeth more especially with softer materials like wood or alluminum.

Start with a coarse file and if you like the surface finish you are done. If not, go to the next finer one, etc. Just like using sandpaper.
