Quality 6″ flat hand file in a bastard cut coarseness.  Pattern files come in 3 grades of coarseness. They are from most coarse to least, Bastard, 2nd Cut, and Smooth. While the coarseness of a file is determined by the size of the teeth, the actual size of the teeth vary with the length of the file. In other words, a 4″ Bastard and a 14″ Bastard are the coarsest version, however the teeth on the 4″ file are much smaller than the teeth on the 14″ file.  Nicholson USA made.
